Terms of Service

1. Service Description

Loc8ID is a location-sharing service that turns precise GPS coordinates into short, shareable links and QR codes, and lets you organize places into collections. Loc8IDs created without an account are anonymous and expire after 90 days of inactivity (each visit resets the timer); creating an account saves them so they no longer expire this way.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to use Loc8ID. By using the service you represent that you meet this requirement and that you have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.

3. Account Registration

To use certain features you must create an account. You agree to:

• Provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration
• Maintain and promptly update your account information
• Maintain the security of your password and account
• Accept responsibility for all activities that occur under your account
• Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use Loc8ID to:

• Share locations for illegal activities or purposes
• Harass, stalk, threaten, or endanger any person
• Share the precise location of another person, their home, or a private place in a way that could enable stalking, harassment, or harm, or without the rights or consent needed to do so
• Violate any person's privacy or intellectual property rights
• Distribute spam, malware, or harmful content
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
• Interfere with or disrupt the service or servers
• Create false or misleading location information
• Use the service for automated or bulk operations without our written permission

You are responsible for the locations and content you share and for ensuring you have the right to share them. See also our Usage Policy.

5. Your Content and Data

Your Content: You retain all rights to the location data and content you create using Loc8ID. You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive license to store, process, and display your content as needed to operate and provide the service to you.

Public Content: Locations and collections you share may be accessible to anyone with the link, unless you protect them (for example with a password or private visibility, where available on your plan). Choose what you share accordingly.

Privacy: How we collect and use personal data is described in our Privacy Policy.

Data Backup: While we maintain regular backups, you are responsible for keeping your own copies of important location data.

6. Subscription Plans and Billing

Free Plan: Limited features and usage limits apply. We may modify free-plan limits at any time with reasonable notice.

Paid Plans: Pro and Business plans are billed monthly or annually. Payments are processed by our payment provider (Stripe); payment is due in advance and all fees are non-refundable except as required by law.

Cancellation: You may cancel at any time. Access to paid features continues until the end of your current billing period.

Price Changes: We may change pricing with 30 days' notice. Changes will not affect your current billing period.

7. API Usage

API access is subject to rate limits based on your plan. Exceeding rate limits may result in temporary suspension of API access. Commercial use of the API requires a Business plan. You are responsible for keeping your API keys confidential and for all activity under them.

8. Third-Party Services

Loc8ID relies on third-party services — including map and geocoding providers, social sign-in, and payment processing — to operate. Your use of features that depend on them may also be subject to those providers' own terms, and we are not responsible for their services or content.

9. Intellectual Property

The Loc8ID service — including our website, software, logos, and trademarks — is owned by Loc8ID and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or distribute our intellectual property without written permission.

10. Service Availability

We strive to keep the service available and reliable but cannot guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the service, or any part of it, at any time, with or without notice.

11. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

Service "As Is": Loc8ID is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, to the maximum extent permitted by law.

Location Accuracy: While we strive for accuracy, we do not guarantee that GPS coordinates or map data are complete, current, or error-free. Do not rely on Loc8ID as your sole source of information in situations where an inaccurate location could lead to injury, loss, or damage (for example, emergencies or navigation-critical use).

Limitation of Liability: To the maximum extent permitted by law, Loc8ID shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Loc8ID from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the service, your content, or your violation of these Terms.

13. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account for violations of these Terms, illegal activity, or to protect the service or its users. You may stop using the service and delete your account at any time (see our Data Deletion page). Upon termination, your right to use the service ceases; sections that by their nature should survive (such as content licenses, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification) will survive.

14. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable where Loc8ID operates, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. If a dispute arises, please contact us first — we'll try in good faith to resolve it informally. Any formal proceedings will be handled as permitted by the applicable law, and nothing here removes any mandatory consumer-protection rights you may have where you live.

15. General

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any policies referenced here, are the entire agreement between you and Loc8ID regarding the service. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.

16. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated version here and revise the "Last updated" date; material changes may be notified via email or in the service. Your continued use of Loc8ID after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
